🕷️ A New Nordic Society for Tick and Tick-borne Disease Research Established

The Nordic research community has taken an important step forward in strengthening collaboration on ticks and tick-borne infections. The Nordic Society for Research on Ticks and Tick-borne Infections (NoSTick) has now been formally established — marking a milestone for scientific cooperation across the Nordic region.

The idea for NoSTick was first discussed at the NordTick and SNÄFF conferences, where researchers recognised the need for a common Nordic platform to promote collaboration and advance research in this growing field.

A digital constituent general assembly was successfully held in February 2025, where members adopted the society’s statutes and elected the first NoSTick Board. The Board successfully organised the first ordinary general assembly during SNÄFF 2025 in Ystad, Sweden.

NoSTick aims to foster scientific exchange, support research initiatives, and facilitate communication on tick-borne infections affecting both humans and animals. Initially, the society will serve as a platform for the well-established NordTick and SNÄFF conferences, held biannually in the Nordic countries.

Although rooted in the Nordic region, NoSTick welcomes researchers from all countries, and the working language is English. The establishment of NoSTick represents a highly positive and timely development for strengthening research, collaboration, and public health efforts against tick-borne diseases in northern Europe.
