About

The Nordic Society for Research on Ticks and Tick-borne Infections (NoSTick) is a scientific association dedicated to advancing knowledge and collaboration in the study of ticks and tick-borne diseases across the Nordic countries.

The main purpose of NoSTick is to

  • Support scientific research in the field of ticks and tick-borne infections.

  • Contribute to the scientific development in this field by funding, organising events (such as NordTick) and coordinating research.

  • Inform about research in this field and its impact on public health and society in general.

NoSTick serves as a collaborative platform that strengthens connections and knowledge exchange among researchers, clinicians, and public health professionals working on tick-related topics. At present, the society’s main role is to coordinate and support the NordTick and SNÄFF conferences — both held biannually and recognised as key scientific meeting points in the Nordic region.

Although rooted in the Nordic countries, NoSTick welcomes researchers from all nations. The society’s members are represented from a wide range of disciplines and institutions engaged in tick and tick-borne disease research.

The current Board comprises members from across the Nordic region, reflecting the society’s interdisciplinary and collaborative spirit.

Ixodes ricinus, also known as the castor bean tick, is the most important vector of tick-borne diseases in Europe. Shown here is a fully engorged female tick.
